Our Mission
As the conditions for traditional third spaces change, thrdspc is an evolution of this concept for the next generation, using creativity to build local economies and connection.
● About
Our World
We ask honest questions about the future, profile pioneers building in the unknown, and incubate new ideas.
-
Through editorial content, we document the world thrdspc is helping to build.
-
Beyond client work, thrdspc develops its own programming — original concepts that don't wait for a brief to exist. These are the ideas we build because we believe they should exist, tested in the world and refined over time.
-
From brand strategy to event production, thrdspc provides strategic and creative consulting for cities and brands.
● Our Philosophy
How We Work
●
Creativity Over Perfection
We invite the messy magic that happens when you bring bold ideas into the world.
●
Alchemize Differences
Each of us have a unique perspective. We see differences as a strength that can illuminate blind spots.
●
Pioneers First
We aren’t afraid to explore the unknown.
●
Long-term Process and Product
Each project is set up with foundational systems that thrive long after us.
● Our Story
Meet Kela
Kela, the Founder of thrdspc, draws on her upbringing in Atlanta, Georgia — a city known for its trendsetters, culture, and history.
Growing up in the South with friends of all backgrounds gifted Kela a multifaceted path expressed through writing and design. These experiences also developed a deep sensitivity to who gets left from the table and all the ingenious ideas that inevitably fall to the wayside as a result.
After nearly a decade living in DC and shaping brand strategy for global platforms like Hyatt Hotels, Oatly, the Ford Foundation and Cannes Lions — and producing public events that draw thousands into DC's neighborhoods — thrdspc became where it all lives.
The studio now consists of a team of storytellers, architects and designers, expanding the capacity to take on structural projects that explore brand, the built environment, and the people it ultimately affects.
